The girls missed part of the parade as they took their evening catnap.
Finally they are awake and ready to watch! Just for Daddy I got a picture with the twirlers in the background. Daddy just loves how they hold up a parade and how there can be so many different ones in a parade. I always tease him that our girls will want to do that when they are older.
When I think of summer I think of vacations to the beach, getting sand between my toes, the excitement of visiting a new place and going out to eat at night. The next best thing to summer vacation at the beach is a lawn party and parade. I am like a kid in a candy store. Why at the age of 28 do I still want to go to every one in
Rockingham County? This summer we have not done any lawn parties or parades until tonight. Tonight we only had to travel about 4 blocks and we took part in the Grottoes lawn party and parade. We had lawn party dinner first, topped of with an awesome funnel cake and then we watched the parade. The girls were asleep at the beginning of the parade. Emma woke up first and enjoyed the fire trucks and twirlers. Over half way through Ali decided to wake up and take part in the excitement. She woke up just in time because a fireman was coming by with lollipops and each girl go one. Their first piece of candy from a parade. We didn't dare go back down to the lawn party grounds after the parade to take part in the true lawn party spirit, but headed home because it was already past the girls bed time and they were being so good. We didn't want to push our luck to much. If was nice to finally participate in something that reminded me of summer.
