Roll Over, Roll Over

Ali did it today!!!
She decided that she had enough of tummy time and rolled over. I couldn't believe it, so I put her back on her tummy and she did it again. Twice this afternoon when nobody but me was around to see it. When daddy got home I put her on her tummy again and of course she would not do it. Then grandma came over for a little bit this evening and I put her on her tummy and of course she would not do it. But I saw it today, in fact I saw it twice. The picture above was taken after she rolled over!!! I told Emma that she was the big sister and should be doing these things first and she just looked at me like I was crazy. But we will practice again tomorrow.
As a stay at home mom this is how I spend my days. Getting excited when it's tummy time for the girls. Like I've said before I don't know how those stay at home moms do it. Maybe next summer when the girls are older and we can do a little more I'll eat those words, but this summer isn't to much to brag about.

Let's Go Swimming

This week has flown by. The girls and I didn't get much done besides trying to figure out a schedule for them. That is not an easy thing to do and my hat goes off to all the moms out there that can get their kids on a schedule. If I want them to stay up that's when they want to sleep and when I want them to sleep that's when they want to stay up. During the day they both also seem to be such light sleepers. The phone will wake them up, hearing the other one cry will wake them up, if I bang dishes in the kitchen they will wake up. So when ever they fall asleep I let them sleep. So during the day they take lots of their naps in the swing, bouncy seat or laying in their ocean wonders toy.
On Father's Day we had a mini cook out with grandma and great grandma that evening. After dinner the girls got to go swimming in their pool wearing their new bathing suits. Emma really seemed to enjoy it and was kicking her legs. Ali sat there and didn't show any real emotion. I think the water was a little to cold for her. Next time we will heat it up some and then I bet she will be kicking her legs as well. Both girls really liked the red fish and would watch it float around the pool. If anyone wants to come swimming with us sometime, just come on over.

The Big Three

Our family

This was a week of 3's. Billy and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary on June 11th. It's amazing to think that three years have already passed us by. It's also crazy to think how our life has changed in these past three years. To celebrate the girls gave me the gift of a full nights sleep. I awoke to Billy's alarm clock that morning and realized it was the first time I was getting up for the morning. Thanks girls for that great gift! Billy then surprised me with a sweet card. How thoughtful of him. I had nothing on the other hand for him. We had said sometime before that we weren't doing gifts this year, so we both followed that rule. I wasn't upset about that.....our money is disappearing fast now a days on items for the girls. Billy's mom was here so that I could go to lunch with old friends without the girls so she stayed the night so that Billy and I could go out to dinner. We had a great dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. We splurged and ordered an appetizer which is something we never do. We had a great meal and we were still home in time to give the girls a bath before bed and Billy went out an mowed the yard. My mom came by to see the girls and we did the baby thing, while Billy and his mom worked outside. What a great way to spend your anniversary!! It worked for us.

On June 12th the girls turned 3 months old. Where have these past three months gone? I attempted to take some photos today to mark the date, but needless to say that is not a job to be doing at home with two babies by yourself. Both girls were trying to sleep when I decided it was photo time. I was half dressing them. Who needs to waste time buttoning all the buttons and snaps? Trying to get them propped up in the pillows without falling over, trying to get them to look in the general direction of the camera. I would get one dressed and propped up in the pillows and be frantically dressing the second one when the first would fall over or begin crying. Getting two settled and a pictures taken in that split second that everything comes together is not possible. It was one crazy whirlwind. I'm no good at it. The best pictures I got of them during the day where later in the evening when they were laying on a blanket in their onsies kicking and being happy babies.

This week was also big because for the first time I had both girls in cloth diapers. Emma has just about out grown the small size when I finally feel that Ali is big enough to be in them. With two in cloth diapers my trash can feels up fast and I do a load ever other day. I am doing a load now and asked my darling husband to let me know when they were done. Well I've been online 45 minutes and I washed dishes before coming upstairs so I know they are done, but has he let me know yet. Of course not! Sometimes I wonder why I bother to tell him anything.
Well this has been the week of three major events and some of them involving the number 3. Can't wait to see what happens next week.

Where do the hours go?

As a working mom I don't know how mom's out there do it, but at the same time after being home with the girls for 10 weeks I don't know how stay at home mom's do it. I guess I'm just stuck in the middle. I haven't done an entry in forever because being a working mom sucks the hours out of a day and before you know it a whole week has passed and you don't know where it went. Starting next week I hope to do an entry at least once a week about what the girls and I spend the first summer together doing. I know we have plans to go swimming in the backyard. Mom got them a pool and blow up fish. I got the bikinis; so they are set! I will also have their first official pictures taken at 3 months, which is only 10 days away. Where has the time gone? Before I know it I will be planning their 1st birthday party. Well the girls have been down for 1/2 an hour and I'm starting to feel guilty that I'm not in bed yet either. Stay tuned for our adventures this summer when I have time to post an entry. Here's a picture just because I like to add one each time. This was from our visit to dad's house before I became a working mom. He had been in the hospital and was at home resting before returning to work so we went to visit for the afternoon.

Got Milk?

I think the title of today's entry says it all. Wishing we could make millions off this picture.
My first two days of being a working mom have gone well. The day at school has flown by for me and grandma says that the day was fine at home as well. Not much else to say at this time.

Back to Work

Today was a big day in the life of being a working mom. I returned to work after being off for 12 weeks. I was put on bed rest 2 1/2 weeks before the girls were born and the 9 1/2 weeks was spent feeding, and changing diapers on two precious girls. I wasn't sad to leave the house this morning and I didn't call home to check on them. Emma had been so fussy the night before that I was worried she would drive her grandmother crazy today. Luckily she was good, or so grandma says.

My students seemed glad to have me back and my coworkers were glad to see me. I don't know how the stay at home mom's do it. I need to be out and about. But then again when I have to take my kids to daycare in August I may wish that I was a stay at home mom.

This one's for April

Last Thursday was the big day around this house. (May 1st, 2008) The first load of cloth diapers were washed and hung out on the line to dry. I think that I'll be able to survive using them, even the dirty ones.
