Instant Family

Last Wednesday (3/12) Billy and I entered the hospital as husband and wife and left three days later as a family. It's amazing how one's emotions can change so quickly and how everything in life looks so different. We were scheduled for the operating room at 5pm, but were pushed back due to an emergency deliver and entered the OR doors shortly before 7pm. Laying there on that table with only Billy and a blue paper curtain to look at I heard the beautiful noise of our girls' first cries as they entered the world 1 minute apart. I thought we looked rather good for our first family portrait. Billy and the girls were whisked out of the room and I was left there strapped to the table as they finished me up. Later that evening in the recovery room I learned that our first precious gift has swallowed mucus as she was being delivered and had to be suctioned and put on oxygen for a short time. The second miracle entered the world just fine. We were able to spend family time with Baby B two hours after delivery, but it wasn't until 4 hours later that we were able to meet Baby A. The girls spent their first night in this world being referred to as Baby A and Baby B. Deciding who got what name didn't happen until the next morning.
